No Spoilers, I Promise 👀
I read this book in one day—partly because Masha finished before me, and I had to catch up. But once I hit chapter 5, I was hooked.
Masha’s the one who got me into thrillers, especially with Freida McFadden’s books. And so far? I’ve been loving them (minus one short Christmas story that didn’t do it for me).
One thing about Freida: you know there’s always going to be a twist. I always try to guess it ahead of time, and sometimes I’m close… but this one? Had my jaw on the FLOOR. I wish I could say more, but I’m trying hard not to spoil anything.
Now—Hank. Oh, Hank. He was seriously testing my patience. He tried to be supportive of his wife, but I was literally shaking my book at times out of frustration. 😤
As a story, it was great. As a thriller, I’d give it 3 🔪 because it didn’t have me on edge the whole time. But for overall plot and payoff, it’s a solid 4 ⭐️ from me.

Masha’s Review:
When it comes to Freida, she never disappoints. She knows how to reel you in and keep you hooked until the very last page.
Not with this one.
My problem with her is that I’ve read too many of her books, so it’s starting to become a little predictable for me. There’s a certain pattern and once you learn it, it’s hard not to guess right when it comes to the ending.
SPOILER ALERT‼️
The Crash was no different. A boring plot twist and no real mystery when it came down to the characters. Hank was a coward and could’ve prevented the whole thing from happening. All he had to do was take Tegan to the hospital. Simple as that. Polly was batshit crazy, played victim, and still got a happy ending. The brother (whatever his insignificant name was) being ballsy enough to try to kill Tegan and her baby at the hospital just felt stupid and unrealistic.
Overall… disappointed because it has you turning pages expecting something crazy and worth-while. Freida did not deliver.
Maybe next time.
