Summary:
God of Pain is the second book of the God series, a dark mafia romance between a very silent, brooding Creighton King and the extroverted, talkative “mafia princess” Annika Volkov. This novel explores a “grumpy-sunshine” dynamic, featuring themes of love, pain, and redemption. It is the real definition of opposites attract – two completely different personalities, light versus darkness. A violent past filled with dangerous family secrets brings intense trauma as well as connection. They are going to fall for each other, but at what cost?

Merca’s Review:
I am not going to go into details because I know my book bestie is going to tear into it, so I will let her take the lead on that one lol.
I don’t want to sound like a broken record but “Little purple” was not a good nickname, it does not roll off the tongue.
OK so I gave it a 3 on my Goodreads, but I honestly want to give it a 2.
There were some parts that I was like “let me gobble this chapter up”, but it was like maybe two chapters.
I was so over the book when I was nearing the end and there were still more pages to read, I was getting annoyed.
At one point, I thought Cray’s secret was that he was actually family with little purple.
I didn’t want to spend another day reading about her, so I pulled an all-nighter to get it over with.
Sorry.
Looking forward to reading Bran and Nikolai’s story, though.
SPOILER!!!
Also, for all the gang gang stuff they say they do and act, the moment Nik decided to be crazy and take himself out, everyone on the opposite side started to freak out, talking about we need to get him help.
Now, if they were about that life, they would have let him bleed out. In my opinion

Masha’s Review:
Let’s just say I gave it 3 stars because I’m nice, it didn’t even deserve that. The first book of this series was SO good, you’d think the sequel would be just as interesting and spicy. Wronggg.
Not only was Annika an annoying yapper, most of the sexual scenes seemed repetitive and lack-luster. Creighton deserved much better.
I know I’m a hater, but I was hoping she’d die at the end. Yes, he would’ve been sad at first, but he would’ve gotten over her and found someone that’s worth his time. He went through all that trauma and heartache for her? Nah.
The story dragged and I had a feeling from the very beginning that the ending was going to be a flop. And I was right. Between the kidnapping and the rescuing, I was so lost at what the real intentions were from all sides. I just wanted the book to end at this point.
My favorite part of the entire book was definitely when Nikolai decided to stab himself at his own kidnapping. Talk about a badass move, he definitely gives me crazy vibes (the good kind)!
Such high expectations and got straight disappointment. Oh well. I’ve decided to give Rina another chance and I will continue to read the series. I did predict Jeremy and Cecily as a couple, so I’m excited to see if their journey is going to live up to Killian and Glyndon’s.
